Welcome Aboard: Your First Ride in a Tesla Model Y

For many of our passengers, stepping into a Tesla is a brand-new experience — and we love being the ones to introduce you to it. At Ordtes, comfort and peace of mind are part of the ride, so before your next trip with us, here’s a quick guide to help you get familiar with the 2022 Tesla Model Y.

No complicated manuals. No tech jargon. Just the basics you’ll actually use.

Getting In and Out of the Vehicle

✅ Exterior door handles

Teslas don’t have traditional handles. To open the door:

  1. Press the wide part of the handle inward with your thumb.
  2. The edge will pop outward — just pull gently to open.

Once you get the hang of it, it’s actually easier than a traditional handle.

✅ Interior door release

Inside the vehicle, you’ll see a simple button on the armrest. Tap it once and the door unlocks electronically.

(For peace of mind: there is also a manual lever below the button — but that’s emergency-use only.)

Buckling In & Seating Comfort

You’ll notice the Model Y sits slightly higher than a typical sedan, so getting in and out is easier on the knees and back — passengers especially appreciate this on airport runs or after a long flight.

  • Adjustable headroom and plenty of leg space
  • Soft, heated seating (driver can enable on request in cold weather)
  • Large glass roof for an open, spacious feel

Charging Ports, Vents & Storage

  • USB-C ports are available in the rear for fast phone charging.
  • Air vents are built into the dash, and airflow can be adjusted from the driver console — if you’d like it warmer or cooler, just ask.
  • Trunk and front trunk (“frunk”) storage allow for plenty of luggage space — perfect for airport drop-offs.

The Silent Ride

The first thing most people notice?

There’s no engine noise.

Electric motors are quiet by design, so if your brain says “the car isn’t on” — don’t worry. It is. You’re just hearing what driving without vibration or combustion sounds like.

Motion & Regenerative Braking

Tesla vehicles drive differently than traditional gas cars in one area you might notice: regenerative braking.

When the driver releases the accelerator, the car gently slows itself to recharge the battery — you’ll feel a smoother, controlled deceleration.

No lurching. No harsh stops. Just a glide down to slower speeds.

Your Comfort = The Priority

If at any point during your ride you want:

  • Climate warmer or cooler
  • A quieter or chattier ride
  • Different music volume (or silence)
  • A luggage assist
  • A smoother pacing through turns or stops

Just say the word — or mention it in advance when booking. Your ride is tailored to you.

Final Thought

Riding in a Tesla is different — in a good way. It’s quiet, smooth, modern, and clean. This first blog post is just the start of our “Tesla Familiarity” series, designed to reassure and prepare our guests so they can simply relax and enjoy the ride.

If you have questions about anything in the vehicle during your trip — just ask.

We’re happy to walk you through it.

Welcome to the future — doors close quietly.
